On the way to school, they see a little boy near a tree. He is sad. His ball is in a big hole by the road. He cannot get it.

Budi puts his schoolbag on the ground. He looks into the hole. The ball is too far away. Then he sees a long stick near the tree. He takes the stick and puts it into the hole. He moves the ball with the stick. The ball comes out.

The little boy smiles. Budi gives him the ball. The boy is happy and says thank you.

Then Budi hears a bell. Their friend Ani is on her bike. She stops near them. School starts soon!

Budi takes his schoolbag. He, Siti and Ani go to school together.

Their teacher is at the door. The children say good morning and go into the classroom.

Budi is happy. He is not late for school. He helped the little boy on the way.

Remember how babies
learn a language:

Babies learn a language by listening.
They use their ears to hear sounds.
Their brain remembers these sounds.
Babies connect sounds with people and things.
They listen to their parents.
Then they copy the sounds they hear. They imitate words.
Slowly, babies learn to speak.
