When I was a child, I loved going to school. Every morning I was happy to see my teacher and my friends. I said learning was very important. It helped people know more and do good things in life.

At school, I learned to read, write, and count. I enjoyed reading books because they told me new stories and gave me new ideas. When I opened a book, I felt I was traveling to another world. I thought learning was like growing a tree. Every day the tree became bigger and stronger.

I also dreamed about the future. I wanted to be a teacher one day. I wanted to help children learn, just like my teachers helped me. I believed that learning could make my family and my village better.

My parents always told me to keep learning and never stop. They said knowledge was something nobody could take away from me. I felt very happy every time I learned something new.

I also spoke with my younger brother, Ben. I told him that learning was fun and that he would like school, too.

I smiled because I knew learning would help me do great things in my life.

Topic: Asking past tense questions when the answer is the subject

  1. Normal past questions with “did”:
    • When the answer is not the subject, we use:
      Did + subject + infinitive?
      Example:
      • Question: Did she buy a book?
      • Answer: Yes, she bought a book.
  2. When the answer is the subject:
    • If the answer itself is the subject, we do not use “did” in the question.
    • Instead, we ask:
      Who + past verb?
      Example:
      • Statement: She bought a book.
      • Question: Who bought a book?
      • Answer: She bought a book.
