We use the simple past to talk about actions that

e.g. with words like yesterday, last week, two years ago.

1. Regular verbs
Regular verbs add “-ed” in the past tense.
Examples:
- play → played
- work → worked
- watch → watched
- clean → cleaned
- visit → visited
2. Irregular verbs (the complete list)
Irregular verbs change their form in the past tense. They do not add “-ed.”
Examples:
- go → went
- eat → ate
- have → had
- see → saw
- come → came
