Last summer, Anna and her husband Mark went to Italy for a week. They were very happy. They had a hotel near the sea and a list of places they wanted to see.
But their holiday started badly.
At the airport, they waited for their suitcase. It did not come. They waited for twenty minutes, but it was still missing. A woman at the airport told them that maybe it was on another plane.
Anna was not happy.
They took a taxi to their hotel. Mark gave the driver the hotel address. But the driver took them to a different hotel with almost the same name. The hotel looked nice, but the person at the desk could not find their names.
After ten minutes, Anna looked at the hotel address again.
“This is the wrong hotel!” she said.
Their hotel was on the other side of town. They were tired and a little angry, but then they started to laugh.
At last, they arrived at the right hotel. They went to their room. Mark opened his bag.
“My passport!” he shouted. “It is not here!”
He looked in his bag again. Then he looked under the bed.
Anna started to laugh.
“What?” Mark asked.
She opened her handbag and took out his passport.
“You gave it to me at the airport,” she said. “You said you were afraid of losing it.”
Mark looked at his passport.
“Oh, yes!” he said. “I forgot!”
The next morning, Anna and Mark wanted to visit an old castle. They got on a bus. After thirty minutes, Anna looked out of the window.
“This is not the right bus,” she said.
They got off at the next stop. They were in a small village. They could not find the castle, so they went into a small café. They had some food and met two friendly local people.
That evening, they went back to the hotel. Their missing suitcase was there!
Anna and Mark looked at each other and laughed.
“We had a lot of problems,” Mark said.
“Yes,” Anna said, “but we will remember this holiday for a very long time!”
